Pertussis
So, a number of you have called me about the "Pertussis Outbreaks" also known as Whooping Cough, asking should you be concerned. Well, you know me, I am not an alarmist. But, I do believe there is great wisdom in being prepared. And folks, this is not just something that hits kids! So here is my Pertussis Protocol.
Basic cold and flu prevention: plenty of rest, lots of fluids and healthy food, keep sugar and processed foods to a minimum. If someone feels tired and run down, don't push through it, instead, listen to your body and rest.
Homeopathics
(the only treatment for Pertussis which is why they vaccinate.):
I make a combination remedy for the symptoms of Pertussis. Taking a dose or two will help prevent it and if you or someone in your family shows the symptoms of Pertussis, will clear it much faster than the only other course which is to wait it out. Often you need more than one strength, so, I prepare this treatment as a set of 3 different strengths (30C, 200C and 1M) to have on hand.
Dosing is easy. Start by taking 3 pellets of the 30C once a day for 3 days as soon as you receive the remedies. If no Pertussis strikes, that's it, you are done. IF Pertussis enters your house, dose the 30C as often as needed for the symptoms. When it stops helping, and it will, you will move to the 200C. When it stops helping, move to the 1M. When I say "stops helping" I mean, no improvement at all. As always, as long as your remedy is doing something, do not move to the next higher strength.
Symptoms of Pertussis include:
- Runny nose
- Low-grade fever (generally minimal throughout the course of the disease)
- Mild, occasional cough
- Apnea - a pause in breathing (in infants)
- Paroxysms (fits) of many, rapid coughs followed by a high-pitched "whoop"
- Vomiting (throwing up)
- Exhaustion (very tired) after coughing fits
It can look like the common cold at the beginning which is why so many docs miss it. But, the real bummer about this is that the cough can last for 10 weeks. With the remedies it clears up MUCH faster.
